Enrollment Verification (PDF)

An enrollment verification is an official document confirming your enrollment status at Stony Brook University.

It does not include:

  • Individual courses
  • Grades
  • GPA

Enrollment verifications are commonly used for scholarships, health insurance, loan deferments, jury duty, car insurance, and similar requests.

  • Student name
  • Semester(s) enrolled
  • Start and end dates for each semester
  • Enrollment status (less than half-time, half-time, full-time)
  • Expected graduation term
All registered students are considered in good standing for enrollment verification purposes. GPA and class rank are not reported.

How to Obtain an Enrollment Verification

Enrollment verifications are available as a PDF through your SOLAR account. The PDF you generate online is considered official.

Steps:

  • Log in to SOLAR.
  • Select the Manage Classes tile.
  • Under Academic Planning, choose Enrollment/Degree Verification.
  • Click the “+” button to add a new row.
  • Select Print PDF and allow time for the document to generate.

The university can verify current and past enrollment only (not future semesters).

National Student Clearinghouse (NSC)

National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) acts as the university’s authorized agent for enrollment verification.

  • Enrollment data is reported to NSC regularly during each term.
  • Processing updates may take up to five business days.

For Student Loan Lenders - Most national lenders obtain enrollment information directly from NSC for loan deferments, eliminating the need to submit forms each term.

For Employers - Employers may verify enrollment through NSC unless a student has placed a privacy block on their record. Identification typically requires:

  • Name while enrolled
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of birth
