Critical Language Scholarship

Through her Spanish and Korean Studies minors, Kylie DiMatteo has pursued a strong interest in language learning and experiencing new cultures. She is committed to pursuing a career in TESOL, which would allow her to support others in their own language learning while also expanding her interactions with different cultures and communities. The combination of these interests and her linguistics studies has also strengthened her understanding of the many aspects of language that affect learners. Expanding her knowledge of language and the learning process has been a fascinating journey for her.

Through the Critical Language Scholarship for Korean, Kylie would be able to study the Korean language while being present in the country. This would allow her to be immersed in the language and culture while improving her language skills through daily interaction and study. By meeting other learners with similar goals, she would also be able to build meaningful connections and further develop her understanding of language learning and cultural exchange.
