Fulbright US Student Program and DAAD Research Grants to Germany

Gino Elia (he/him/his) is a PhD candidate in the doctoral program for philosophy at Stony Brook University. He specializes in phenomenology and the philosophy of physics, with an emphasis on quantum physics and the history of physics in the early twentieth century. Gino's dissertation is on the history of quantum mechanics and quantum ontology. He is graduating in May 2026.

Gino will be researching the philosophy of quantum mechanics with his affiliate, Christian List at LMU, who specializes in metaphysics and free agency. Their hope is to make breakthroughs on conceptual problems that have recently surfaced in quantum foundations.

He looks forward to bringing his cats Bismarck and Moltke with him to Germany. They already have German names so he says they'll fit right in! He also look forward to baking German desserts and bringing them to the office everyday.
