Ciara Woellhof

Master's Student, Biomedical Engineering
NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
Ciara Woellhof is a Biomedical Engineer who completed her bachelor's degree at Stony Brook University with a double major in Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS). She is currently completing her Master's in BME at SBU. She has been deeply involved in research in computational biomechanics and plans to continue on to complete her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon with a focus on digital twins of human organ systems. During her time at Stony Brook, she has also been deeply involved in community service. She, along with a few other students, founded the 3D Printing for Assistive Technology and Health Club (3D PATH). She also served as president of AEMB, the honor society for BME.
As an NSF GRFP fellow, Ciara looks forward to the freedom to pursue her specific research interests at Carnegie Mellon, particularly in the realm of digital twins. She aims to make a significant impact on patient-specific healthcare to ensure equitable access to optimized medical treatment. Beyond her immediate research, she is eager to engage with the NSF network to bolster her work and ultimately aspires to lead her own research lab in the future.
