Fulbright US Student Program

Carrie Wang is a Biology major at Stony Brook University and a member of the University Scholars program. Alongside her academics, she serves as a Resident Assistant and have been involved in research and mentorship programs focused on education and healthcare access. In her free time she enjoys singing and playing the piano.

Through the Fulbright ETA experience in Taiwan, Carrie hopes to help students build confidence in English through engaging and supportive classroom interactions while also reconnecting with her cultural roots. As someone with family ties to Taiwan, she was drawn to the opportunity to experience daily life and education in Taiwan beyond the perspective of a visitor. She hopes to encourage students to see language as a way to express themselves and connect with others rather than something to fear, while also learning from the local community and culture herself.

She is most looking forward to forming meaningful relationships with students and becoming involved in the local community. She is excited to experience Taiwan through everyday life, education, language, and cultural traditions while growing as both a communicator and educator. She also looks forward to learning how different educational environments shape students’ confidence and curiosity, and believes the experience will push her to become more adaptable and open-minded in the way she connects with people from different backgrounds.

Carrie is a part of University Scholars group on campus.
