Frequently Asked Questions
A: For West Campus Students and Employees, Campus ID Cards can be obtained on the
Second Floor of the Stony Brook Union at the Student Financial Services suite. For
East Campus Students and Employees, Campus ID Cards can be obtained at the ID Card
Office located on the third floor of the HSC, room 162 across from the Galleria.

A: If your ID card is lost, damaged, or no longer functions and is less than four
years old the $25 replacement fee will apply. Please note that this fee will apply
to cards that do not appear visibly damaged as the Campus Card Office cannot attest
to what stresses were placed on the card that caused it to malfunction. Our ID cards
are designed to last at least four years under normal use and conditions.

A: No, ID cards can be printed in a few minutes. No appointment is necessary.
A: Yes and No. In most cases, New Students and New Employees are sent an email with
an invitation to submit a selfie. If the photo is in compliance with our guidelines
then the card can be printed with that photo.
For new domestic students the ID card will be mailed or available for pickup at your orientation. For new West Campus Employees, your ID card will only be available for pickup at the ID Card office. For East Campus Employees, your cards will be available for pickup at the East Campus ID Card Office.

A: For new employees, your card will be available no earlier than your first day of
employment. For new domestic students, your card will be mailed if you submitted
an approved photo before the deadline stated in the campus card email. All other
students will be able to pick up their ID card at their orientation or their residence
halls.
A: Yes, please bring a photo ID with you.
A: No, the Campus ID Card Offices are not able to create or update your Wolfie Wallet.

A: Yes. If you purchased a monthly parking permit in a gated facility, your ID card
will gain you access to the appropriate gated parking facility when tapped in front
of the reader.
A: To protect your privacy! Stony Brook University uses the 9-digit PeopleSoft number
(EMPL ID#) for student and staff identification. Unlike Social Security Numbers, the
EMPL ID# generated by PeopleSoft works only at Stony Brook University.
A: This number is a sequentially and unduplicated number assigned by the University and
unique to the cardholder. It is only valid and usable at Stony Brook University.
A: This is a visual verification; no information is recorded from the picture ID. This
procedure is designed to protect the privacy of each person obtaining a card and add
security to the carding procedure.
A: No. The first card for Faculty/Staff or Students is provided at no charge. However,
the charge for replacing lost, stolen or damaged cards is $25.00 each time. Please
