WISE students have access to a variety of exclusive research opportunities that foster hands-on learning and professional growth. Through faculty mentorship, on-campus research labs, and partnerships with leading STEM industries, students are encouraged to begin research as early as their first year.
Students can present their research at Stony Brook’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URECA) Symposium, as well as the WISE Senior Thesis Project & Research Symposium, showcasing their work to the university and broader academic communities.
Additionally, WISE collaborates with prominent organizations like Brookhaven National Laboratory, offering students access to state-of-the-art facilities and groundbreaking projects in STEM fields. These partnerships provide unique opportunities to work alongside leading scientists and contribute to impactful research.
These experiences prepare WISE students for advanced study, competitive internships, and successful careers in STEM.
Honors College: A four-year interdisciplinary curriculum culminating in a senior thesis or project, with a focus on research and academic exploration.
University Scholars: Emphasizes leadership development, community engagement, and academic success through seminars and events.
WISE Honors Program: Designed for students in STEM majors, combining academics, research, service, and leadership development, culminating in a senior project or thesis.
