About Us
Earthstock is Stony Brook University’s annual Earth Day celebration, bringing together

environmental awareness, and climate action. Through interactive events, educational
programs, and campus-wide initiatives, Earthstock showcases Stony Brook’s commitment
to environmental stewardship while inspiring everyday sustainable practices. The event
reflects the university’s broader sustainability efforts, from energy conservation
and recycling to research, education, and community engagement, all aimed at building
a more sustainable future.
Sustainability History Highlights
Stony Brook launched its first campus recycling program, marking an early commitment
to waste reduction and environmental responsibility.
Created to lead energy conservation, carbon footprint reduction, recycling expansion,
and sustainable campus operations.
Stony Brook pledged to pursue carbon neutrality by signing the American College &
University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.
Formalized campus sustainability leadership and expanded environmental programs, research

Introduced to reduce vehicle use, promote healthier transportation, and lower campus
