October 06, 2026
Dear Seawolves,
As we approach the midpoint of the semester, we hope you have had the opportunity to build strong connections at Stony Brook and are taking advantage of the many resources available to support your success.
As noted on the academic calendar, Fall Break is scheduled for Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13, so classes will not be in session. Take this opportunity to destress, have fun, and spend time with friends and family.
- If you currently reside on campus, you are welcome to remain on campus during any or all of the break.
- Campus offices and the Recreation Center, Union, Student Activities Center, Library, and other campus buildings will be open, but please visit their respective websites for hours of operation.
- Campus dining will be available as noted on this dining schedule.
- Check out SB Engaged for campus events and happenings during Fall Break.
Tips to Stay Healthy and Well
- Please do not drive drowsy. If you are traveling by car, get a good night’s sleep before getting behind the wheel so that you remain alert while driving.
- Boost your immune system. We’re about to enter flu season, so now is a good time to get your flu shot — available on campus, at any pharmacy, or your doctor’s office. Student Health Services also has FREE flu vaccines available to students by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Call (631) 632-6740 to make an appointment.
- Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers/cleaners are also effective.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
- Stay home if you feel unwell.
Supporting Your Mental and Physical Health
For free in-person medical and mental health resources at Stony Brook, visit Student Health, Wellness, and Prevention Services. For free 24/7 virtual medical, mental health care, and health coaching services, go to timelycare.com/stonybrook or download the TimelyCare app (iOS or Android) to use the service. You don’t have to be on campus to use this service, so if you’re away for Fall Break, you can still connect with a TimelyCare counselor or medical provider.
