Eric Lamberg

Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Development
Dr. Eric M. Lamberg is the Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Development at Stony Brook
University, where he leads university-wide initiatives that support faculty excellence in
teaching, scholarship, mentorship, leadership, and professional growth. A member of
the Stony Brook community for more than two decades, he previously served as
Associate Dean of the School of Health Professions and Chair of the Department of

Physical Therapy. Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to mentoring
faculty, academic leaders, and emerging scholars, helping them achieve success in
education, research, and service. 

A licensed physical therapist and Certified Pedorthist, Dr. Lamberg is a nationally
recognized scholar whose research focuses on rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics,
adaptive sport, and the lived experience of individuals with limb loss and limb difference.
He has authored numerous peer reviewed publications, secured funding from federal
agencies, foundations, and industry partners, and mentored students and faculty across
multiple disciplines. 

Beyond academia, Dr. Lamberg is an international leader in adaptive athletics. He
serves as President of the American Amputee Soccer Association and is a member of
the Executive Committee and Board of the World Amputee Football Federation.
Through his leadership, scholarship, mentorship, and service, he has advanced
opportunities for faculty, students, and athletes while championing inclusion and
excellence in higher education and adaptive sport.
