Biography:
Raymond Blackwell has been an IDEA Fellow at Stony Brook University since September of 2023. Prior to joining Stony Brook, Raymond completed a postdoc at Brookhaven National Laboratory and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of California-Berkeley where he used Scanned Probe Microscopy (SPM) techniques to study nanographenes. Outside of the lab, Raymond is likely watching his beloved University of North Carolina Tar Heels or otherwise playing baseball in New York City.

Research Statement:
My current research focuses on utilizing Scanned Probe Microscopy (SPM) techniques to study emergent phenomena in strongly correlated material systems. Of particular interest is gaining a deeper understanding of superconductivity in both iron and copper based compounds and using SPM to understand correlated physics in two-dimensional systems (graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides, etc.)
