SBU Graduate Program in Physics and Astronomy

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook offers a diverse program and consistently ranks amongst the best and largest in the country. Students can pursue PhD, MSI, and MA degrees, taking high quality courses and performing exciting research. We are proud of producing over 1000 PhD graduates in less than 50 years.

We no longer use either the Physics or General GRE in our admissions process! There is no need to send us these scores with your application. 

We have launched a fee waiver program to assist students from Latin America to apply to our program. Details here
