My research examines the affordances of multiliteracies in supporting Black immigrant youth as they navigate their identities in response to dominant discourses. The dominant discourses highlighted in my work include deficit portrayals of immigrant youth race, culture, language, and country of origin. I draw on critical approaches to explore how digital literacies can be used to amplify the authentic agentive narratives of Black immigrant youth in ways that can directly impact with and disrupt these discourses. The findings from my research have broad societal and educational implications regarding policy and pedagogy.
