2024

STEM Adventures: Miller Place High School Tour of Stony Brook R&D Park
May 22, 2024
Miller Place High School sent a cohort of five teachers and 44 students to Stony Brook University’s R&D Park on May 18. Led by Shannon Matura, a New York State Master Teacher, the group rotated throughout the labs of hydrogen, combustion, power electronics, and battery storage. Representing classes such as AP Physics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry and honors iterations, the students sought renewable energy applications of their advanced studies in foundational sciences.

Afterwards, the visit shifted to the Center of Excellence in Wireless Information Technology (CEWIT), whereby both AI and robotic technologies  were approached in a hands-on capacity via the world’s largest virtual reality deck and the  Home of the Future.

Stony Brook University Innovation Bootcamp Part Three

In part three of the Spring Cohort of the Stony Brook University Innovation Bootcamp, aspiring student entrepreneurs delivered their final presentations to judges and winning teams are awarded I-Corps funding.

Stony Brook University Innovation Bootcamp Part Two
April 25, 2024
In part two of the Spring Cohort of the Stony Brook University Innovation Bootcamp, aspiring student entrepreneurs delivered their first draft business proposals and attended a new series of presentation delivered by the team. The student teams prepare their final presentations for judging.

SPIR Electronics Design Lunch and Learn for SoMAS, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering Students

STEM Adventures: Mineola High School Tour of Stony Brook R&D Park
April 11, 2024
Mineola High School’s robotics and computer science classes visited the R&D Park at Stony Brook University on April 11, 2024. Led by teachers Kuri DeFede and Andrew Woolsey, 25 students first toured the combustion, battery, and hydrogen labs at the Advanced Energy Center before heading to CEWIT to experience the Reality Deck and AI-powered robotics with Sunrise Technologies.

STEM Adventures: Riverhead High School WISE Students Tour of AERTC
April 10, 2024
On April 10, students from the after-school Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program at Riverhead High School visited the Advanced Energy and Research Technology Center (AERTC). The 16 eleventh grade students, led by their teacher Laiba Bilal, toured energy labs in the disciplines of battery storage, hydrogen, and combustion.

12th Advanced Energy Conference 2022
The 12th Advanced Energy Conference series featured an event at the Marriott Marquis in New York City on Sept. 7-9, 2022, to follow the virtual conference that took place on June 9-10, 2021. The theme for this two-part conference was charting the course for energy, as we map our path to a future energy portfolio by exploring technology innovations, key policy changes, new business models, and more.
