Graduate Writing Support
The Graduate School collaborates with The Writing Center and the Department of Writing and Rhetoric to provide support for graduate student writing. A Graduate Writing Assistant (GWA) supports workshops and offers 1:1 review sessions.
The GWA an assist master's and PhD students with:
- Brainstorming ideas and creating a writing plan
- Managing data, evidence, and citing sources
- Revising and editing papers and thesis/dissertation chapters prior to submission
The current GWA is Emilia Russo; she is a doctoral candidate in the Philosophy Department, and holds an advanced graduate certificate from the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department. She’s been a course instructor, as well as a one-on-one and small-group instructor, across multiple universities.

Writers' "Boot Camp"
The Writers “Boot Camp” provides graduate students the opportunity to set writing goals, practice disciplined writing habits, learn new productivity strategies, and connect with other writers. Sessions are held Fridays from 1 pm to 5 pm via Zoom, providing dedicated time and accountability for sustained writing.
Students are encouraged to apply for this online program to strengthen their writing skills and gain access to a supportive space for planning, writing, and reflecting on their current projects. New cohorts begin at the start and midpoint of both the fall and spring semesters.
