Biography
Dr. Laura Lindenfeld , is Executive Director of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University, where she has built one of the world’s leading science communication training programs, reaching tens of thousands of scientists, researchers, engineers, and health professionals worldwide through the Alda Method®. A scholar, advisor, and keynote speaker, she is coauthor of Science Communication for Scientists (Routleged, 2025), the first-open access textbook in the field. She previously served as dean of Stony Brook’s School of Communication and Journalism and in 2025, she launched the SUNY Research Leadership Academy to prepare researchers to communicate the impact of their discoveries and innovations. Her work focuses on helping experts build trust with communities, policymakers, and decision-makers.
