Biography

Kathleen Monahan’s areas of expertise include research and clinical work with children and adults who have experienced traumatic events and health issues for adults who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and Intimate Partner Violence.  Within this context, her focus is on the neurological outcomes for women as a result of partner- inflicted violence such as strangulation and head injury.  Dr. Monahan also focuses on Interprofessional Education, most recently with the Partnerships for Collaborative Education (PACE) a HRSA sponsored Interprofessional Wellness clinic, housed in the School of Dental Medicine.  She is also a board member of Interprofessional Telehealth within the Health Sciences Center at  Stony Brook University.   Dr. Monahan is a national and international lecturer and continues to work with a variety of community stakeholders to improve the health of women, particularly those that have experienced partner-inflicted violence.
