Biography

Elizabeth Hewitt is an urban planner and social scientist, and her work rests at the intersection of technology and policy to explore human processes that impact energy and resilience in buildings and cities. She focuses most often on urban multifamily or commercial buildings. She conducts research on occupant behavior in buildings; decision making for resilience; occupant interactions with smart building technologies; and organizational culture for energy and resilience. A current project funded by the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) explores the influence of social norms on recycling behavior in multifamily buildings.
