Daniel KnopfProfessorSchool of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences

Biography

Daniel Knopf’s research focuses on the physical and chemical properties of aerosol particles and their role in air pollution and cloud formation and thus climate. Phase transitions of aerosol particles, like the formation of ice and its impact on the global radiation budget, is one of the least understood processes in the atmosphere. Also, aerosol particles provide a medium for gas-to-particle reactions, with the Antarctic ozone hole being the most prominent example.
