Biography

Dr. Mahaffey has a strong background in clinical research related to the treatment of anxiety and stress disorders. Her current research focuses on the treatment of stress and anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum. She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she conducted research with Jonathan Abramowitz on treatments for anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has extensive training in the delivery of different empirically supported treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged-Exposure, mindfulness-based treatments and smoking cessation.
