Biography
Benjamin Tausig is professor of critical music studies at Stony Brook University in New York. His research focuses on protest music, sound, and politics in the United States and Southeast Asia. His first book, Bangkok Is Ringing (Oxford University Press, 2019), is an ethnography of the sonic environment of the Thai Red Shirt protests in 2010-11; his second book, Bangkok after Dark (Duke University Press, 2025) is a history of Thai nightlife centered on a queer Black jazz pianist named Maurice Rocco, who lived in Bangkok from 1964-1976.
