Biography

Alan Turner's research is focused on understanding terrestrial vertebrate evolution in deep time, with a particular emphasis on the evolutionary history of dinosaurs and crocodiles. His research is fieldwork-oriented and specimen-based, using both classic and modern techniques ranging from comparative osteology to histology and CT scanning. His work has taken him to the badlands and deserts of New Mexico, Mongolia, Madagascar, and Kenya resulting in the discovery of over 15 new species of Mesozoic dinosaurs and other reptiles.
