Biography

P. Scott Carney is the Chair of Mechanical Engineering and previously the Chief Science and Technology Officer (CSTO) at Optica (2021-2024), Director of The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (2017-2021) and faculty at the University of Illinois (2001-2017). Scott has a strong record of creating opportunities through teaching, research, entrepreneurship, and service to the community. His research interests include all aspects of light, computed imaging, spectroscopy, and coherence theory.
