Biography
Meredith Slopen is an Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare. Building on her career at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, her scholarship focuses on the role of workplace and labor policies at critical junctures in the life course, and work as a social determinant of health. Her work has been funded by the Center for Financial Security and Institute for Poverty Research, Washington Center for Equitable Growth, the Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy, and the US Department of Labor Women’s Bureau. She holds an Hon. B.A. from the University of Toronto, MSW from Columbia University, and received her Ph.D. in Social Policy and Policy Analysis from Columbia University in 2023.
