Laurie KrugAssistant ProfessorMolecular Genetics and MicrobiologyRenaissance School of Medicine

Biography

Laurie Krug’s research interests lie in understanding the molecular determinants of virus-host interactions during chronic infections caused by human gammaherpesviruses: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Kaposi’s sarcoma associated-herpesvirus (KSHV). Her research of these critical virus-cell interactions will provide a greater understanding of these disorders and can lead to novel therapeutic targets. Her laboratory uses genetic knock-out and CRISPR tools to identify virus and host determinants in a model pathogen system.
