Biography

Jeffrey Heinz's research lies at the intersection of theoretical and mathematical linguistics, theoretical computer science, and computational learning theory, with specializations in phonology, linguistic typology, and grammatical inference. His work in these areas has appeared in the journals Science, Linguistic Inquiry, Theoretical Computer Science, Topics in Cognitive Science, and Transactions of the Association of Computational Linguistics, among others. The Linguistic Society of America recognized Heinz with its 2017 Early Career Award for his contributions leading to a new computational science of inference and learning as applied to language.
