Biography
Dr. Jeannette R. Mahoney, Professor of Neurology, is a neuroscientist with over 20 years of multisensory integration research experience. Her primary research interests include: healthy aging; sensory functioning [multisensory integration]; motor functioning [gait; balance, falls & motor control]; cognitive functioning [attention & executive functioning]; fall risk assessment; and age-related diseases [including but not limited to mild Parkinsonian symptoms; mild cognitive impairment (MCI); Alzheimer’s disease (AD); & Diabetes]. Her main research objective is to determine how to optimize the integration of multisensory inputs for older adults, in an effort to reduce falls, improve mobility, and help older adults maintain functional independence. Dr. Mahoney has received continuous NIH funding for her multisensory research since July 2012. She is also the founder of JET Worldwide Enterprises Inc. - a digital health startup company spun out of Albert Einstein College of Medicine research - which has developed a novel fall risk assessment tool called CatchU®… Before You Fall. The app was one of the National Institutes of Health Start-Up Challenge winners for 2025.
