Biography
Dr. Amy Schattel is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Director
of the Neuromodulation and Treatment Resistant Depression Program at Stony Brook University. She
is a board-certified psychiatrist with specialized training in interventional psychiatry,
including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT),
ketamine treatments, and neuromodulation-based clinical evaluation. Dr. Schattel completed
her psychiatry residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she pursued
advanced training in brain stimulation modalities and participated in research examining
neuromodulation applications. Her clinical and research interests include interventional
psychiatry (TMS, Ketamine, ECT, VNC, etc), aerospace medicine and psychiatry topics,
and AI.
She adds, "My approach combines the highest standard of evidence-based psychiatric
interventions with a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. My vision
is to advance neuromodulation through research and clinical innovation, integrating
proven therapies with emerging treatments in the Neuromodulation Clinic to bring hope
and transformative outcomes to the Stony Brook community.”
