Biography

Michelle Ballan’s practice and research aims to ameliorate barriers impacting services and treatment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her scholarly work addresses two main foci for women with disabilities: intimate partner violence and reproductive justice.  She is a mentor for human rights disability advocates and her international disability work is in Vietnam. In 2015, she received the Mid-Career Exemplary Social Work Leader Award from the National Association of Social Workers, New York City Chapter.
