Karen Sobel Lojeski Assistant Professor Technology and Society College of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Karen Sobel Lojeski’s research focus is the impact of technology on people, including how technology impacts educational and business performance as well as overall well-being at the cognitive and emotional levels.  Through her research, she made an award-winning discovery of the phenomenon, “virtual distance,” which is a perceived distance that grows when people rely heavily on communication technology, resulting in major changes to learning, business performance, and a person’s ability to develop close personal relationships.
