Biography
Joseph M. Pierce specializes in 19th and turn-of-the-century Latin American literature and culture. He focuses on queer theory and kinship studies and investigates the mechanisms of power that have marginalized certain groups, such as sexual minorities, women, immigrants, and indigenous communities. He also collaborates with La Poderosa Media Project, a nonprofit that encourages youth empowerment and collaborative learning through community-based arts programs in Latin America and the United States.
