The specific topics he explores include the various forms and bases of social hierarchy (e.g., power, status, moral standing); the factors and processes that create and sustain hierarchy (e.g., social evaluation, status seeking, competition); and how social hierarchies and the conditions they create impact the thoughts, actions, and biology of the individuals embedded within them.
