David Thanassi’s research focuses on understanding strategies used by bacteria to cause disease. He has a particular interest in bacterial virulence factors, understanding how these virulence factors are secreted by the bacteria and how they function to allow bacteria to cause disease. His lab is also interested in exploiting the understanding of bacterial virulence factors to develop novel alternatives to antibiotics.
