Biography

Dr. Rebecca Spiegel is a board-certified neurologist specializing in epilepsy and sleep medicine, currently serving as Chief of EEG/Epilepsy at Stony Brook University Hospital. Under her leadership, Stony Brook received and has maintained a Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center designation—the highest national recognition in epilepsy care—while expanding both inpatient and outpatient EEG and sleep services. She serves on several national committees and is actively involved in NIH-funded research. A dedicated mentor and educator, Dr. Spiegel received the 2022 AMWA Inspire Award for mentorship and was named a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” in 2025, an honor recognizing the top 7% of physicians in the New York area.
