Booker Prize-winning author and CrFT faculty member Marlon James discusses his new novel The Disappearers with Miwa Messer for a live taping of Barnes and Noble's POURED OVER podcast. Part of the Humanities Institute at Stony Brook's Faculty Lecture series.

Join us for a virtual conversation with Wythe Marschall, creator of the Stillfleet tabletop role-playing game (featured in Worlds Beyond Number's Solari campaign.) Learn how to write and publish your own games in this fast-growing industry.

Come support the publication of Exit Sign Illusions, an anthology of writing created
by the students from this fall’s CWL 320 course, with readings from the anthology
and a discussion about how the book was made.
Apr. 8 - Starting a Small Press with Lauren Belski
Interested in the world of independent publishing? Join Lauren Belski, founder of
Under the BQE Press, for a reading and conversation on how to start and sustain a
small press.
May 6 - Student Showcase

Oct. 15 - Faculty Reading + Q&A with Dawnie Walton
Dawnie Walton is the author of The Final Revival of Opal & Nev, winner of the 2022 Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award, the Aspen Words Literary Prize, the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award, and the Audie Award for Fiction.
Nov. 5 - Visiting Author Lena Khalaf Tuffaha Interactive Reading
Lena Khalaf Tuffaha is an Arab American poet, essayist, and translator. She is the author of three books of poetry, including Something About Living (winner of the National Book Award).
Nov. 19 - Faculty Reading+Q&A w Eskor Johnson
Eskor David Johnson, author of Pay As You Go—an NPR Best Book of 2023 and finalist for major fiction prizes— has published in McSweeney’s, Guernica, and The Believer. He holds degrees from Harvard and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and is originally from Trinidad and Tobago.

Marissa Levien is a writer and artist living in New York. Her debut novel The World Gives Way was a finalist for the Bradbury Award and was named one of the Best Sci Fi Books of 2021 by the New York Times.
APR. 17 - Shirley Strum Kenny Arts Festival

OCT. 9 - Faculty Reading + Q&A with Stephen Aubrey
Stephen Aubrey is a playwright, dramaturg, fiction writer, and game designer. He’s been published in CRAFT, Electric Literature, Publishing Genius, and elsewhere. He is shipping his third original tabletop role-playing game through Stillfleet Studios.
NOV. 6 - Alumni Panel on Life after SBU
Distinguished alumni and old friends are reunited to discuss what challenges and triumphs writers face after completion of a degree.
