Anshumaan (Manas) Vikram Singh,
2023 YAWH Scholar from India

“So far the things I love most are: The community and academic rigor. I have made a ton of friends here at SBU and I have a lot of fun socializing with like-minded people in the lounge, be it a late-night Nintendo WII U match or a tennis tournament. Furthermore, I enjoy attending lectures here. All the professors I have met so far are super dedicated, hard-working, and helpful.”

“It's truly about the environment. Opting to study abroad was driven by my pursuit of a fresh setting, one that would grant me access to some of the world's most advanced education and connect me with diverse, talented individuals. Stony Brook has vividly illustrated that everything here is not only new but teeming with knowledge waiting to be explored and absorbed.”

Shristi Tuladhar

“I applied to the YAWH scholarship as it enabled me to promote international diversity while receiving financial support to pursue my education at the same time.”

HOW WE SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

A wide network of resources help our international students feel right at home from the very start.

As a new student, you'll be supported by the International Student Ambassadors, be able join our International Student Organization (ISO), and make new friends at iCafé, our bi-weekly academic and student services workshop.

Our academic advisors are supportive. They might do everything from helping you devise your first-semester schedule to recommending student resources, such as the writing center and tutoring centers.

Our Office of Global Affairs provides visa and immigration support, and hosts a global forum series on topics such as intercultural communication.
