TOPIC: Middle States Accreditation visit: John Murray met with the Faculty Senate Committee.

Faculty Senate Standing committee retreat, Monday May 12; Noon-5
Looking for two volunteers to go from our committee.

Subcommittee reports: Re-elected new officers, Paul is no longer president of the Ashley Schiff preserve. They planted two new trees. An award to Barbara Chernow: the Guardian of the Glade.

New Meadow: West Side Meadow, the University is working on a capitol construction project. Pricing was received back and we should be moving forward with installation of the new meadow.

New Business: A new event/initiative, focusing on electricity, conserving electricity. Six buildings are participating in this pilot program. John Murray asked about how it is being audited. James O’Connor explained how it is done.
John Sparano brings up that The Governor has implemented an executive order (88) to cut back energy consumption across NY.

Make the campus community aware via electronic display on energy consumption per building. Real time consumption will be displayed for the campus community.

James O’Connor suggested that we go online and check out Wolfie unplugged to check out the current pilot program going on now to see how well the program is going.

Teri Tiso mentioned some buildings are very hard to control with air conditioning, heating, and hot water output.

John Sparano asked about a priority list. John Sparano mentioned the buildings that have an air condition in every window and what can be done to replace them. However, the capitol investment would be very large. You would need to empty a dorm without interrupting the occupants to make the upgrades.

Every summer a percentage of the money is used to upgrade and make the buildings more efficient.

Paul Siegel mentioned we are in line for some awards for protecting and planting trees. A Groundwater Foundation called Greensite; we received that award for being a pesticide free campus.

Date and time for the next meeting:
