Subject: Time to Take a Break - Fall Break Reminders & Upcoming Events

Dear Seawolves,

As we approach the midpoint of the semester, we hope you have had the opportunity to build strong connections at Stony Brook and are taking advantage of the many resources available to support your success

As noted on the academic calendar, Fall Break is scheduled for Monday, October 13 and Tuesday, October 14, so classes will not be in session. Take this opportunity to destress, have fun, and spend time with friends and family.

Tips to Stay Healthy and Well

  • Please do not drive drowsy. If you are traveling by car, get a good night’s sleep before getting behind the wheel so that you remain alert while driving.
  • Boost your immune system. We’re about to enter flu season, so now is a good time to get your flu shot. Flu shots are available on campus, at any pharmacy, or your doctor’s office. Student Health Services also has FREE flu vaccines available to students by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Call (631) 632-6740 or use the Wolfie Health Portal to schedule an appointment
  • Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers/cleaners are also effective.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell.

Supporting Your Mental and Physical Health

For free in-person medical and mental health resources at Stony Brook, visit Student Health, Wellness, and Prevention Services. For free 24/7 virtual medical, mental health care, and health coaching services, go to timelycare.com/stonybrook or download the TimelyCare app (iOS or Android) to use the service. You don’t have to be on campus to use this service, so if you’re away for Fall Break, you can still connect with a TimelyCare counselor or medical provider.

Homecoming Celebration and Spooky Brook

When you return from Fall Break, get ready for the annual Homecoming celebration from Monday, October 20 - Sunday, October 26.  It’s a week full of fun, friendship, and Seawolf spirit! Visit the Homecoming website for more information. Be sure and attend these favorite Stony Brook traditions:
