Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer

Jackie Weisman was appointed Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer for Stony Brook University effective August 15, 2026. In this role, she leads the university's comprehensive compliance and ethics program and is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the institution's compliance plan, and advancing a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct across the university community.

Jackie’s areas of oversight include civil rights compliance and training, policy, internal investigations, internal audit, records management, and Freedom of Information Law requests. Working as a strategic partner with university leadership, faculty, staff, and affiliated entities, she helps ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards while supporting the university's missions of education, research, healthcare, and public service.

Prior to her current appointment, Jackie served for nine years in Stony Brook's Office of General Counsel, most recently as Associate Chief Campus Counsel, providing legal advice to the university's academic campus, health system, and Long Island State Veterans Home.  During her tenure in counsel’s office, Jackie advised university leadership on a broad range of legal, regulatory, governance, and policy initiatives. Before joining Stony Brook in 2017, Jackie served as in-house employment counsel at a private company and practiced at a law firm in New York. She earned her undergraduate degree from Columbia University and her Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law.
