PEG BOARD AT-A-GLANCE

PEG Board Constitution Article I, Item 2

The Professional Employees Governance Board shall operate, in accordance with the policies set forth by the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York, as a recognized part of the University's governance systen with authority to make studies, reports, and recommendations on all governance matters which has a significant bearing on professional employees.

PEG Board Constitution Article IV, Item 3

The business of PEG Board shall be to act as the responsible, representative voice of the concerns and needs of its constituents and to investigate, discuss, report, and make recommendations on those issues that are consistent with the purpose of the Board.

PEG Board Constitution Article I, Paragraph 2

The Professional Employees Governance Board (PEG Board) is the point of contact for all official communication between professional employees at Stony Brook University, the University Senate, and the academic unit senates.

WHO

PEG Board Membership, 36 professionals, 15% of University Senate faculty senators, representing constituency of approximately 3,860 professionals from East and West Campus and all affiliated SBU locations

WHAT

Depending on roles, attends meetings of, and participates in University Senate, academic unit senates and/or related committeesIn addition to the above, attends PEG Board membership meetings.

WHEN

Generally during academic year semesters Generally two meetings each academic year semester

WHO

 PEG Board East and West Campus Co-Chairs, elected by PEG Board Membership

WHAT

 In addition to the above, attends weekly standing University Senate Executive Board meetings, includes meetings with President, Provost, VP SB Medicine, other senior SBU staff and Senator LaValle, etc.

WHEN

 Weekly during academic year semesters and on an ad hoc basis in winter and summer semesters

WHO

PEG Board Committee on Appointments and Elections

WHAT

Meets and communicates in order to coordinate all appointments and elections for PEG Board roles

WHEN

Generally, in the spring semester and on an ad hoc basis in other semesters.
