Stony Brook University’s Peace Corps Prep Program is open to all undergraduate students.   

Application Steps & Requirements

1. Attend a Peace Corps Prep Information Session

Tuesday, September 12, 2023: 5 pm to 6 pm, Virtual | Register Now

Wednesday, September 27, 2023: 1 pm to 2 pm, SAC 305 | Register Now

Wednesday, February 7, 2024: 5 pm to 6 pm, Virtual | Register Now

Wednesday, February 21, 2024: 1 pm to 2 pm, SAC 302 | Register Now

If you can't attend an info session, please schedule a Peace Corps Prep Consultation appointment on Handshake by navigating to “Special Programs.”

2. Submit your letter of intent

Once you understand the program requirements you will submit your letter of intentby email to Marianna.Savoca@stonybrook.edu. (300-400 words)

3. Receive your assigned Peace Corps Prep Career Coach

You will be assigned to a professional career coach at the Career Center based on your target sector of interest. This staff member will serve as your Peace Corps Prep coach and will work with you individually and withing group settings to ensure that you are on track to complete the program.

4. Select professional development workshops (Find Events on Handshake)

The Career Center offers 100+ professional development workshops each year on topics such as Resume Writing, LinkedIn Profiles, Finding Internships, Careers In Series, Diversity Recruitment Events, IGNITE Diversity Leadership conference, and more.

5. Check-in with your Peace Corps Prep Career Coach

At least once per term, you will be expected to meet 1:1 with your Peace Corps prep coach to review your progress, address any challenges, and plan for the upcoming semester.

6. Official Application

Submit official application in order to formalize your participation in the program via email to Marianna.Savoca@stonybrook.edu.

The deadline is rolling, however early applications are encouraged. The sooner you apply the sooner you will have a customized plan to work with.
