Beamline Scientist: Since 2011

Dr. Chen's research interests focus on the in-situ characterization of the chemical and physical properties of materials using synchrotron-based techniques in various sample environments, from vacuum and ambient, to high pressure and high temperature. Her research has included the synthesis and characterization of materials important for catalysis, fuel cells, batteries, and energy storage. In collaboration with other teams, she is also involved in rheological studies of minerals in the Earth's and other planets' mantles.

Currently, Dr. Chen is the lead beamline scientist at the APS 6BM-B Beamline, where she is responsible for day-to-day operations and user service. Prior to her current position, she worked at NSLS X7B, NSLS X14A, and NSLS X17B2, and has extensive experience with synchrotron-based in-situ techniques.
