International Information Sessions

International Information Sessions 2018This April the China Center worked with a number of academic and administrative units on campus to hold information sessions for admitted Chinese international students and their families together with local alumni.

President Stanley, along with faculty representatives from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Undergraduate Education and Advising, Advancement, Admissions, Orientation, and the China Center traveled to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou to interact with admitted students and introduce them to Stony Brook academics, campus, and community.

Over 1,000 students, family members, alumni, and partner universities attended the information sessions to learn more about the university and hear from Stony Brook's own Nobel Laureate CN Yang, who participated in the Beijing event.

The information sessions follow a national trend of universities hosting in-country events for international students to begin acclimating and acculturating them to the American educational system prior to their arrival.
