Research Assistant Professor

Required Qualifications

1. PhD. in microbiology

2. Minimum three (3) years of postdoctoral research training

3. Experience in translational oral microbiome research and animal models

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience teaching undergraduate, dental or medical students

2. Experience with molecular biology techniques such as qRT PCR

3. Experience with immunology techniques such as cell culture, ELISA and Western blotting



Responsibilities & Requirements

The selected candidate will serve as a non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The incumbent will work closely with both the Department Chair and School of Dental Medicine (SDM) Associate Dean for Research to support research activities in the SDM, perform independent and collaborative research, apply for research grants and prepare their work for publication. The incumbent will also assist with the supervision and management of the Department research lab. A PhD. in microbiology, with a minimum three (3) years of postdoctoral research training is required. Preferred qualifications are experience teaching students, and experience with various molecular biology and immunology techniques. Candidates should demonstrate clear potential for academic growth in teaching and research, and possess excellent communication, writing, organizational and interpersonal skills. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by Department Chair or Associate Dean for Research.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: March 1, 2020
