Clinical Assistant Associate Professor

Required Qualifications

DPM Degree, eligibility for the academic title of assistant professor. Podiatrists must have a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited college of podiatric medicine accredited by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education. Eligibility for New York State license, Board Certified/Board eligible in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery,Forefoot and/or Rearfoot.

Preferred Qualifications

Record of success in basic or clinical research, interest and experience supervising undergraduate/graduate medical students, residents and fellows. Must have completed an CPME accredited three year Hospital Residency Program.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Podiatric surgeon is an integral part of the Surgical Service, a section of Vascular Surgery and provides a number of important duties. they include but are not limited to the following:



  • Perform foot and ankle surgeries, for both emergent and non-emergent , elective reconstructive and limb salvage procedures.
  • Appropriate referral for Consultation to Internal Medicine, Vascular Surgery, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Pain management as needed.
  • Participate in Cadaver lab, and lecture series with the residents on a weekly basis.
  • Daily hospital rounds, weekly clinical patient responsibilities in the outpatient facilities, OR cases in both the main Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Center as scheduled.
  • On call as per the Podiatry Team, with Hospital and ER coverage 24/7 every third week.
  • Responsible for entering appropriate notes into the official medical record using the Computerized Patient Record System. This includes dictating office notes and operative reports on a timely basis.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: as soon as possible
