Palliative Medicine Physician - Assistant Professor
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Fellowship trained and Board certified Palliative Medicine physician with interest
in palliative care education and research. At least one year of inpatient palliative
care consultation experience.
Responsibilities & Requirements Stony Brook Medicine’s Palliative Care Program seeks a Board Certified or Board Eligible
Palliative Care physician to join a very experienced and valued inpatient consultation
service. The Palliative Medicine Program at Stony Brook University Hospital resides
in the Department Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. This is an exciting
time to join our growing and very dynamic interdisciplinary team, consisting of physicians,
nurse practitioners, social workers, volunteers, etc. The physician will have extensive
opportunity to teach trainees of all levels and develop curricula and educational
programs at Stony Brook University Hospital and Stony Brook School of Medicine, as
well as participate in research and quality improvement projects throughout Stony
Brook University Hospital. Furthermore, our program has recently received ACGME accreditation
for a newly developed Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship creating additional
opportunity for involvement in fellowship development and leadership. This past summer
Stony Brook University hospital was awarded for the fourth time Advanced Certification
in Palliative Care by the Joint Commission.
Stony Brook university Hospital is a 603-bed medical center and is the largest and
only combined tertiary and academic center in Suffolk county, Long Island. Stony Brook
University Hospital provides care to a diverse patient population with wide range
of disease pathology.Long Island provides a variety of living environments ranging
from a cosmopolitan style with big city amenities to suburban/small town feel with
top notch school systems and quality of life.
