Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (2 Positions Available)

Required Qualifications

Position 1: PhD or equivalent and postdoctoral experience in neuroscience or related discipline.

Position 1: The applicant should have demonstrated a track record of productive and impactful research in neurobiology of aging.

Position 2: The applicant should have demonstrated a track record of productive and impactful research in molecular, cellular or systems neuroscience.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at Stony Brook University is currently recruiting two tenure track faculty members at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels.  One of the two positions is co-sponsored by the SUNY Empire Innovation Program and is part of a University wide initiative supporting research on the neurobiology of aging.  Outstanding candidates studying brain aging will thus be strongly encouraged to apply.  The other position will consider outstanding molecular, cellular or systems neuroscientists.  Successful candidates will join an interactive, diverse group at Stony Brook University and it's affiliated institutions, and will actively contribute to the Department's programs in undergraduate, graduate and medical education.  

Position 1: The successful candidate will carry out research on brain function and aging, will participate in the Department's educational mission of undergraduate, graduate, and medical school teaching, and perform university and departmental service.

Position 2: The successful candidate will participate in the Department's educational mission of undergraduate, graduate, and medical school teaching, carry out research in neuroscience and perform university and departmental service.

Special Notes

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: Fall 2020.
