Food and Supply Drive for Island Harvest

Island Harvest, a food bank of Long Island, has spearheaded a food and supply drive for mainland USA victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Most needed items include:

  • Pop-top ready to eat items
  • Baby cereals and baby food in plastic containers
  • Shelf-stable/canned items such as peanut butter, tuna, 
chicken, beans and soup (no glass containers)
  • Dried fruit, oatmeal, cereals, granola bars, rice and 
pasta
  • Bottled water
  • Cleaning supplies such as bleach, non-bleach cleaners 
and paper towels 
  • Personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes, 
toothpaste, soap and deodorant 


 

In addition, the following items are needed but must be NEW 


  • Clothes or blankets
  • Pet cages 


 

Donation boxes are stationed across campus and will remain there until Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Island Harvest will be transporting collected supplies and coordinating local distribution in affected areas. Our goal is to collect at least 500 pounds of supplies.

Donation Box Locations:

2 in Stony Brook University Hospital lobby

1 by the Nursing School level 2 and 1 by SHTM level 2 (HSC)

2 in the main library across campus

1 by the Hillel center on level 5 of the main library

1 East Side Dining near the entrance to the Emporium 

1 in the lobby of Life Science building

1 in the Behavioral and Social Science building

1 in the Administration building

2 in the Student Activities Center

1 in the Wang Center by the information desk
