Another Way to See: Iconicity in Emily Dickinson's Fascicle 16

Dickinson assembled many of her poems in 40 booklets or "fascicles." Experiencing the poems chosen for a particular fascicle provides a different approach from reading poems individually. In this presentation, I show how Dickinson's poetic art in Fascicle 16 iconically engages both poet and reader with experienced reality. That engagement enables readers of a Dickinson poem to cognize themselves as embodied beings embedded in, enacted by, and extended with the physical, social, cultural, and spiritual worlds of their experience.
