Opportunities to Make a Difference
@ Stony Brook University School of Nursing
Your gift, no matter the amount, matters. Your ongoing philanthropic support allows the School of Nursing to educate and prepare students to join a diverse and inclusive workforce of nurses at all entries of practice. Graduates of our program are leaders and experts in socially just care, education and research who are dedicated to advancing the health of the people of New York, the wider geographic regions and the global community.
School of Nursing Fund for Excellence
Your gifts to the School of Nursing Fund for Excellence support our undergraduate students who engage in community service events such as blood pressure screenings, our Stop the Bleed program, Teddy Bear clinics for children and programs to encourage high school students to consider careers in nursing.
Your gifts also support our nationally recognized graduate students and faculty — expert researchers, clinicians and educators who raise academic standards by presenting at national meetings and forums and publishing in academic journals.
Finally, your gifts to the Fund for Excellence support research studies that will influence the future of healthcare.
Gifts may be made through an outright contribution of cash, securities, real estate or other real or personal property, as well as through planned giving, annual giving, estate gifts such as bequests and trusts, and life income gifts such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
We also welcome your pledge. Pledges of more than $5,000 may be fulfilled over a number of years (up to five years).

A gift of appreciated securities may be an advantageous way for you to give to the School of Nursing while avoiding or reducing capital gains taxes.
If you choose to make a gift of depreciated securities, in most cases, it will be more advantageous to sell the shares and give the proceeds to the School of Nursing.
For assistance, please consult with your legal and financial advisor.

the School of Nursing.
Please consult your legal and financial advisors to discuss the tax advantages of making a planned gift.
Endowments are perpetual and offer you the opportunity to support multiple generations of patients, practitioners, and physician-researchers, thereby making a lasting impact on multiple generations at Stony Brook.
